The deer, a majestic and elegant animal, is poetically wrapped in various symbologies. From the Greek legend of Cyparissus, in which the death of the deer gives rise to the cypress, the animal has become a symbol of immortality and eternity; it expresses instinctive strength of body and spirit, power of sexuality, calm and fruitfulness. The horns of this animal, which are renewed annually, falling between the months of February and April and reborn in spring with an extra branching, symbolize longevity and vital regeneration.
Therefore, both for their symbolic character and for the sinuous and harmonious shapes, the horns have long been used as decorative elements in homes.
Today, thanks to a different sensitivity towards animals, the concept of displaying the ‘hunting trophy’ has been overcome, which necessarily involved the embalming of the deer. Rather, fallen antlers adorn highly prized furniture and furnishings.
