“Leggera” chairs by Gio Ponti – set of 7 pieces, original edition from the 1950s.

Product details

The concept of modernity and absolute functionality was what Gio Ponti wanted to convey to the companies and designers of the future. The “Leggera” is an iconic piece of design that combines experimentation, ingenuity, craftsmanship and innovation through the synthesis and cleanliness associated with architecture and design.

The “Leggera” designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti is the version that preceded production
of the “699 Superleggera” in 1967, a slimmer and more minimal version of the previous one. Both models are still produced by the Cassina company today.

Developed following triangular shapes, the shape is designed to best distribute the person’s weight, together with ash wood, ideal for making the chair extremely light, resistant and elastic.
The inclination of the backrest on the upper part makes the seat ergonomic.
Dimensions: 52 L x 81 H x 51 D cm
