Rattan Armchair “Biancamano” Model by Gio Ponti and Lio Carminati – Italy 1950

Produced by Casa&Giardino and designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti and Lio Carminati to furnish the first-class cabins of the ocean liner SS Conte Biancamano, these “Biancamano” armchairs became the symbol of an era following their maritime debut, gaining immense popularity even outside the nautical world. Today, the “Biancamano” model is still considered a classic of Italian design and continues to inspire reboots and reinterpretations in the field of contemporary design.

The structure features a high backrest and a flared base, with the rattan craftsmanship creating a sunburst pattern. Seat cushion not included; available upon request.
