RIGOR AND POETIC FANTASY: FRANCO ALBINI

Silent, rigorous, ironic man, Albini was one of the major protagonists in the development of rationalist thought in the field of architectural production, furniture, industrial design and museum exhibition.
His is a refined and rarefied style, which was able to combine fantasy and craft, poetry and method. “You have to use the pencil like a sword,” he once said.
He was a firm supporter of the social role of the architect as a profession at the service of the people. In this regard, his son Marco recalls: “The material, used sparingly, praised and purified progressively, in a challenge of sustainability, represented above all an ethical code and moral behavior; use fewer resources to be able to distribute more and therefore, ultimately, a socialist vision of the world ”.
